How To Properly Request Codes Without Incurring Fees
#1, the BEST, FASTEST, and most records reliable way to order a code is ALWAYS by ordering the code on the website. We are currently exploring ways to make our website app based for even easier code requesting. Once you have a MemberSpace account you have access to the code store and when you create the Squarespace Store Account you are able to store your payment method and shipping address for fast checkout and the Store Account will save your purchase history for your records. By far this is our most preferred way to fill codes and website requestors also much prefer it once they get used to it. By using the website you will NEVER be assessed a fee UNLESS you submit a code request and you have not checked the VIN as being valid before submitting. ALWAYS run a VIN thru a VIN check service before buying the code! Your request must be canceled and the purchase refunded so a VALID VIN can be re-submitted. Your refund will be minus $1 for a bad VIN fee.
--X-- Fees can apply if not done properly with the rest of these request methods:
#2, our second most preferred way for you to send a VIN to us to fill is by text message. Text, Phone, and email requesting is all available to our Membership (these are called “post-pay” options). We must have a valid payment card on file for anyone to use post-pay. You can have as many cell phone numbers as you want on out text message system but we must add each number to that system on our end (every number is pre-vetted and given to us by an authorized account user). Once a number is in the system anyone can use that cell phone to text a VIN to us and we will fill it automatically. Unless you want to add vehicle details for your own record keeping, nothing else is needed to be sent- just a VALID VIN.
Please note that the phone number you will text is the exact same number you can call, despite it being a 800 number. As you can also see above you will send a VIN and we will reply with “OK” so you know we have received it. No need to call us, text us again, or ‘remind’ us about it. We are working on it and once we have the code you will receive another text with the code.
---X--- NOTE: If you do NOT receive an OK from us after you send a VIN then re-send the VIN or text us a question on if we received it. If you have ANY question not found readily on our website feel free to text it and we will answer them. Questions on prices, availability, time frames to fill them, which makes require documentation, or code options are subject to fees. We have a Price Guide downloaded on our website in 3 different areas that have all of that info on it already. We also have many resources for you, just explore the footer links.
Sometimes your cell carrier will add characters to our texts. We have no idea why (maybe because we are sending from a VOIP phone system) so if you see the code M1458…?4589, you will, of course, ignore the question mark as you know the 4589 is your pin number and the ? was added by your carrier.
There is NO NEED to respond anything back to us. No appreciation is needed. It is NOT impolite (to us) to go on about your day as though our messages are sent by a computer. If you do respond with a thank you, do not be surprised or insulted if it is completely ignored. We are very busy and we prefer to just get a VIN and fill it and move on to our next request or task. Lots of work, only a couple workers.
#3, email. No vetting is needed to send an email request. HOWEVER, there is a proper way to send the email to us so we see all the required information we need to fulfill the request as quickly as possible.
Using the example website above you can see 5 highlighted areas. It is YOUR responsibility to know before you request a code how long a code takes to get back, how much it costs, and if that vehicle code CAN be pulled at all. Isuzu, GM, 2016+ Ford, and our cheaper Toyota/ Lexus option all require documentation for us to get you a code. You need to know that, have them attached to the email, and they must be valid and all match. Only send email requests to support@locksmithkeycodes.com. The subject line of the email should ONLY contain your user ID number (it is the “key” to your account). In the body you can put anything you want but what we should see first is the account holders name (NOT YOUR BUSINESS NAME!) and ALWAYS a full typed VIN number. It must be valid and verified. Whatever else you put under the VIN is up to you.
Email is a post-pay system so a card on file with us is mandatory.
Lastly, you can call us. This is our least preferred method. Here’s why: When you send us information, we can copy and paste it right in to our VIN checker, then right on to our logs and pull the code you need immediately. We can do that in less than 20 seconds and be back to working on other duties or requests while we wait for the code to come to us to pass on to you. We can only copy that data if you send us a website, text, or email request. When you call us we drop everything we are doing to only service a single phone call. We have to vette the person calling as well as if the account they are seeking to use is active and in good standing. Then we have to take a VIN by phone. All too often we are fighting thru an accent that is difficult to understand, than we may have to hang up and call back later when the code arrives. That takes much more than 20 seconds. Minutes have gone by and other requests are stacking up waiting for our attention. We only ever have 1 person on duty at a time. Members do not get enough codes a month to afford more shifts or more people, so we are working with what we have.
Calling 1-800-552-0585 (same as text) will connect you with our Voip call system (phone thru computer). Choose the prompt you need and when we answer you will tell us your security ID number (aka Member ID). We will also want the name of the owner of your company as they will be the account holder- NOT THE BUSINESS NAME! We do not give accounts to businesses, we give them to people. Once we have vetted that the account is in good standing (approved and not payment delinquent) we will want the type of code you need and the full VIN number. Read the VIN characters out phonetically, like alpha, bravo, Charlie, etc. We will be entering what you tell us in a VIN checker and will know it is valid immediately. Please always verify the VIN in your hand is good before you call us!
If we can put you on a brief hold and get the code, we will, otherwise we will call you back (or text) with the code you are buying. That purchase will be logged and every week we will make an invoice out and it will get emailed to you. Use the link in the email to pay the invoice right away. If, after a few days the bill is not paid on your end, we will pay it for you and additional fees will be added.
On the subject of fees, they are not expensive. $1.50 at most for anyone that pre-pays but has us do the card payment for them. Most are $1. We would prefer they were not necessary. Download the Price Guide every 3 months to ensure it has not changed, vette your VIN’s and documents before contacting us, and send us your requests properly and you should never have any problems.
